HIDE AND SEEK

It was long ago
that we parted,...

in a place
made of
dreams.

We were scattered apart
like two broken bits of a fallen leaf
on a cruel and playful wind.

But I have never forgotten you.

I wait for you here,
scanning the seas of strange faces
hoping that one day
you will remember to look for me too.

Come awake
in any of these
once spun dream faces.

I will know you
in any shape.

All of these faces are you and me
in ever shifting shades of light,
their strangeness is a convenient place to hide.

You will find me in the darkest season...

...in a palace of artificial lights.

Look for the water,
I will be waiting there.

Do not come empty hearted,...

...bring all of your remembrance
of our timeless summer

and let it flow into me
through your eyes.

Bring me white flowers shaped like stars
and say to me:
"I remember."
