hidden veins connect jealousy to the love my blood moves with duty and fire.
like electric pink fire trucks screaming through the city streets and into hillsides- moving at seventy miles an hour, passing red lights, green lights, toddlers covering their ears with pudgy little hands.
the noise breaks the calm of the sunny street like a hammer on a delicate face.
i can hear babies crying through shut windows, all too aware of these veins. too real to be swept away and left on the street for Thursday morning. hidden- gold and black, opal and red, blinking blue and orange like crosswalk signs giving advice.
